Youngsters from West Norfolk Rugby Club experienced top-class rugby at the home of the Premiership side Leicester Tigers at the weekend. On a breezy Saturday morning, the club’s U15 squad made the long drive to Welford Road to take to the pitch as ball boys for the European Rugby Champions Cup fixture against Irish rivals, Leinster. The crew included the three rising stars from the squad, who have all been selected to be part of the Tigers’ Player Development Program, so it was another opportunity to visit a club that they will be spending a lot more time at.The squad took to the pitch before the fixture started, helping to set the stage for the main event, taking the opportunity to have some laughs with the Tigers’ mascots and for the proud parents to take some snaps for the album.West Norfolk Rugby Club and Tigers have an ever-improving relationship that sees various youth and mini teams take part in matchday events, helping to build a solid connection between Premiership and grassroots rugby clubs, which is vital to the long-term success of the sport in more rural areas. The U15s next take to the road for a Norfolk Cup fixture against regional rivals, Wymondham, on Sunday followed by a further cup assignment at home where they welcome Holt to Gatehouse Lane on Sunday, February 4, where all spectators are welcome.
