Stars waiting to hear if they will face sanctions

King’s Lynn have rearranged their controversially postponed home fixture against Leicester – but any sanctions arising from the initial call-off are as yet unknown.The Stars have confirmed Monday, July 1 as the new date for them to face the Lions at the Adrian Flux Arena, after electing to pull the plug last week due to clashing fixtures in Poland.It was a decision which divided opinions within the sport, especially as the injury to captain Tobiasz Musielak, who is out with a broken collarbone, would have left them without just one other rider – but that was Patryk Wojdylo, who had scored a brilliant maximum in his previous home match against Birmingham.Matches are not usually called off due to reasons of unavailability although there were extenuating circumstances on this occasion because the UK league is supposed to have priority over the vast majority of Monday and Thursday fixtures.However, the Speedway Control Bureau announced an investigation and the match notably remained listed on the official British Speedway website until just after the scheduled start time.That website is usually updated immediately after a home promotion announces a postponement, as was the case with the Stars’ planned trip to Birmingham on Monday which fell victim to a bad weather forecast, and it may indicate the authorities’ views on the Stars’ actions.However, they have yet to publicise any details arising from the investigation, and so the Stars push on with their bid to collect the league points required to climb the table. But there are two more fearsome tests on the agenda, starting with the trip to Belle Vue on Monday with the National Speedway Stadium very much a stronghold for the Aces, who have racked up a series of high scores in Manchester so far this season.And then it’s the biggest meeting of the season at the AFA next Thursday (May 23) as the Stars host league leaders Ipswich with local bragging rights up for grabs – and they will be desperate to de-rail an impressive Witches side who achieved the impressive feat of winning away at champions Sheffield earlier this week. Lynn decided to postpone last night’s home meeting against Sheffield due to a poor and worsening weather forecast.This decision has been taken after consultation with Sheffield and the relevant authorities.
