King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon is hoping to get his reserve pairing firing as a combination so the Stars begin to show strength in depth this season.Polish racer Patryk Wojdylo has endured a slow start to 2024, not helped by the stop-start schedule and bad weather as he looks to continue his education in British Speedway, with only a short stint for Peterborough last year as experience to call upon.Anders Rowe has been far more successful in the Rising Star berth but after winning every Heat 2 across the first three meetings and twice scoring seven points, he dipped and picked up just one at Oxford last Thursday in a narrow 43-47 defeat.Lyon said: “Patryk did okay at Oxford. It was the first time he had been there, and he was just trying to settle in with different bikes and different set-ups on tracks that he won’t have seen before.“But that was the first bad one Anders has had, although he had a great ride in his second heat before Bomber (Chris Harris) pipped him on the last lap. “He’s had a good start to the season apart from last Thursday, and overall it was a better performance and something for us to build on.“We had to use rider replacement for Vadim (Tarasenko) and having that at No.2 does always give you a lot more options. “The gate positions were quite crucial, as they always are, and it worked out pretty well for us. I think we got paid ten from rider replacement and that was a good return.“I think it shows that if the two riders, Tarasenko and Ben Basso, had been with us, it shows you that this team is not far away.” Tarasenko has now been replaced by Nicolai Klindt, who was due to make his seasonal debut last night (Thursday) in a vital home clash against Birmingham. The Stars are then on the road on Bank Holiday Monday when they visit Ipswich in an afternoon fixture (2.15pm) which generally tends to attract big crowds and drama at Foxhall.Leicester visit the Adrian Flux Arena next Thursday (May 9) and the Stars’ recently postponed home match against Sheffield has been slotted back into the schedule on May 16.
