King’s Lynn have appointed their new No.1 Tobiasz Musielak as team captain for the coming season.Musielak is the choice of manager Rob Lyon to lead the Stars into the Premiership campaign, which gets underway with a trip to Leicester on March 21.The Pole’s experience in British Speedway goes back to 2015 and he has enjoyed highly successful spells with Swindon and Sheffield in particular, being part of three title-winning teams during that time. This will be his first season at the Adrian Flux Arena, a circuit where he has often scored heavily in his appearances as a visiting rider. And Lyon is confident Musielak is the right man to assist in getting the best out of the Stars septet as a whole, as they look to make a real impact in the Premiership play-off race.He said: “I always look down the list of riders in my team, and I look to see which rider in my opinion has the best case to put forward of being captain.“I also spoke to his manager, I spoke to Tobi himself, and he was keen and happy to do it.“He’s our No,1 he’s an experienced rider, and he’s the best choice for us. He has a great personality in the pits and I really think he’ll be fine, I think he’ll do a great job.“We do have a relatively new team this year, although of course some of them were with me at Peterborough last season, so it can be a bit of a different mindset when you’re making this decision.“But when I sat down and thought about it, I really felt it made sense. Tobi is the best choice, and giving him that extra responsibility will hopefully spur him on.“He’s done a great job in British Speedway in the last few years and there’s no reason why he can’t continue in that vein with us this season.”The Stars will be on track for the first time as a team in 2024 at press and practice on Tuesday, March 19, with the Adrian Flux Arena open to the public from 6pm.They will then be at Belle Vue the following day for a media event featuring all seven Premiership clubs, prior to the opener in the East Midlands on the Thursday evening.
