There was a silver lining for talented athlete Rebecca Johnson at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport. The rising under-15 West Norfolk athlete picked up a silver medal at the National Indoor Age Group Athletics Championships for U15, U17 and U20s boys and girls.Johnson was once again in top form in the 60-metre hurdles, qualifying for the final with a personal best run of 9.14sec in a very close-run second heat. The youngster was one of only two automatic qualifiers, finishing in second place. This personal best lasted just a little over two hours as Johnson stormed into the final, setting another new PB, along with a new club and county record, and the silver medal to boot with a blistering time of 9.08 seconds.Johnson has improved with every event so far this season and the hard work has paid off.A silver medallist in a major national final, sitting as UK number two for her age group as well as being just .01 of a second outside the all-time list for the under-15 age group. She is a name to watch for the future and joins the honours list of truly accomplished West Norfolk athletes.
