King’s Lynn Town boss Adam Lakeland believes new arrival Tom Wilson fits the profile of his squad well. The 22-year-old defender arrives at the Walks from FC Halifax Town and becomes the Linnets’ second signing of the close season.Lakeland said: “I’m pleased that Tom has joined us. Having enjoyed a consistent run of results since January playing with three centre-backs, it’s clear that’s the system that suits our personnel best.”We needed to ensure we go into the new season with four quality central defenders.”Tom fits the profile of centre-backs I like, committed, aggressive, brave, vocal and competent with the ball.”He’s at an age where I feel we can continue to develop his game and he has experience of being a captain in the past, captaining a team which achieved promotion and last season played some games in the league above.”I look forward to working with him and it’s another player who makes the group stronger than last season.” Wilson joined Halifax from Belper Town, where he was named supporters’ young player of the season in 2022/23.The centre-back started his career at Sheffield United and has also had spells at Hallam FC and Stalybridge Celtic. After agreeing to sign, Wilson said: “I’m delighted to be joining King’s Lynn.”After meeting the manager and his assistant Sam (Walker) and listening to what they’re building and the style of play, it felt like it suited me and was the best opportunity for me to take to go and play football to the best of my ability. “I’m excited to meet the lads and to knuckle down through pre-season, to prepare for what I’m sure will be a great year for this club.”To be given the chance by the manager to stay in full-time football is an excellent opportunity for me and one I’m grateful for.”
