Heacham Football Club’s new chairman has outlined his plans for the club’s future in an open letter to supporters. It was confirmed earlier this week that Cambridge businessman Mark Cosham will take over the running of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Club from long-standing chairman David Page.Cosham will take up his new role from the beginning of next month with Page being installed as honorary life president of the Magpies.Heacham, who are currently undergoing more ground improvements, sit 14th in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division standings after winning eight successive promotions to get to the level. In his letter, Cosham talks about consolidation at Step 5 whilst developing the club’s commercial activities. It read: “Firstly, I would like to thank David Page for the outstanding job he has done over many years getting the club to this level.”However “Mr Heacham” is not leaving the club, when he offered me this position I said I wanted him to accept the role of Hon President of the club.”This will assist us with the ongoing community liaison and remain on the management board, he has decades of experience that we need to tap into and also for club continuity, thankfully David accepted and will assume this role in April.”The changeover is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 1, therefore Downham at home will be my first outing so to speak.“As we all know the club has excelled on the pitch and achieved promotion after promotion, and the commercial side has been left behind and swept along with the on-pitch activity.”We therefore now need a period of consolidation at our current level and develop the commercial aspects of the club.”I see the following priorities at this time: (1) Expand and develop the management board and announce its structure in April; (2) Publish a three-year club strategy to develop elements on and off the pitch looking to release this before the start of the new season; (3) Create a new website to promote the club, its sponsorship opportunities and encourage further corporate investment, releasing this before the start of the new season.””I look forward to seeing you all at some of the remaining games of the season as we complete a solid first year at this level, well done all the first-team players and coaching staff.“The final note has to go to the younger lads, what an outstanding performance by the Under-16s, now cup finalists, and we hope “cup winners next month.”The Magpies are without a game on Saturday but are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Harleston Town.
