Linnets boss praises ice cool striker

King’s Lynn Town manager Adam Lakeland says Jonathan Margetts has “ice in his veins” after the striker’s brace against Rushall Olympic moved the Linnets a step closer to safety.After Alexander Fletcher gave the pics the lead after five minutes, Margetts levelled on the stroke of half-time before securing a crucial three points 12 minutes from time.It was good enough to give on-form Lynn their third successive win and take the frontman’s tally to five goals in three games.”I felt second-half we felt we were better, certainly better than we were in the first,” admitted the Lynn boss after another huge three points.”We had a few moments where we looked like we could hurt them and Dylan (Crowe) has been aggressive in a one versus one on the side of the pitch, which I I want to see more of from him.“But he showed great quality and composure to just put it across the box and there’s Johnny to score.”That’s exactly why we brought him here because you know he scores, he’s got ice in his veins in front of the goal.”He’s scored two massive goals and it’s a big three points for us.”The former Lincoln City frontman – signed from Matlock Town in January – now has 27 goals to his name this season after finding the back of the net 22 times for the Gladiators before he arrived in Norfolk.Lynn’s boss feels the 30-year-old makes goalscoring look easy.”Well, the best goalscorers do don’t they,” was his verdict after the game.”How many people there have a rush of blood to the head, smash it over the bar or don’t connect properly, but he’s just passed it into the goal with pace and quality”I thought Johnny, in the second half especially, his all-round play was outstanding. The game started to open up, he made clever runs, got over the ball, linked it up, brought others into play and his two goals topped off a good performance by him.”He just keeps going and I think in that second half as the game was opening up that he sensed that he was going to get another chance.”And when he does get another chance he normally takes it we’ve seen in the short space of time that he’s been with us.“He should have had a penalty first half for me, why would he go down? The lad certainly hasn’t taken the ball cleanly.Lakeland also had a few words of praise for the returning Ross Barrows.Barrows was on target during his last appearance at the Walks on a day when Lynn’s relegation from the National League was confirmed and, although he was unable to emulate that feat against the Pics, he laid the ball on the plate for Margetts’ first goal.”You speak to the lads who know him from his previous spell here and just other people generally around the club and you see how popular is with the supporters,””Working with him day-to-day he is just a good, honest lad, with a bit of character, always got a smile on his face and around the training ground.”I think we’ve seen today that he’s fully committed to the club and that’s why it was a no-brainer for us to bring him back here.”Next up is a trip to Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday night.
