Lynn have made their first signing of the summer, snapping up 21-year-old winger Ross Crane from Step Three team Leiston.Crane scored nine goals in 34 games for the Southern League Central Division outfit last season and has also played for Sudbury, Bury Town and Needham Market. The former Colchester United academy player was on Ipswich Town’s books from 2020 to 2022 after signing a professional contract and made one League Cup substitute appearance against Gillingham.Manager Adam Lakeland said: “I’m delighted to have Ross on board. From the first time I saw him play, I felt he would be a great addition for us.“He has an excellent work ethic and turn of pace to go with his technical abilities, which make him a player who can both score and create goals.“The lad makes good runs off the ball and travels well with the ball, something that we didn’t have too much of in our ranks last season.“And he is also at an age where he can continue to develop in a full-time environment, whilst having plenty of senior footballing experience under his belt. “I look forward to working with him and I’m sure he will be an excellent addition to our group.”Crane said: “When I spoke to the gaffer I was really pleased with what he had to say, He spoke very highly of the club and that had a big impact on me coming here. “I have seen the training facilities at Ely too and found them very impressive – they are probably the best facilities at this level of football. They have everything there that you need for a full-time club.“I have been a full-time footballer before and was looking to get back to that it’s really exciting to achieve that with Lynn. I’m really looking forward to the new season.”
