Youngsters make it through to cross-country finals

Two young runners from a West Norfolk school made it to the finals of a prestigious cross-country contest.For the second consecutive year, children from Clenchwarton Primary School made it to the finals of the Norfolk School Games cross-country competition.Freddie Knott, Year 6, and Candice Nguyen, Y4, finished in the top five at a qualifying event held at St Clement’s High School in Terrington St Clement to secure their places.The schools taking part, including Clenchwarton, were all members of the West Norfolk Academies Trust.The Clenchwarton runners also finished in the top ten of a Lynnsport cluster final in King’s Lynn where more than 40 different schools were represented. The top three in each race received medals.A total of 640 children took part in the finals held at Langley Prep School in Taverham, Norwich. Some 80 of them represented schools from West Norfolk following the Lynnsport event.“We are proud of all our children who took part in the Norfolk School Games competition and both Freddie and Candice are fantastic ambassadors for our school,” said deputy headteacher Nicki Maddison.
