Young Linnets host Canaries

King’s Lynn Town U23s face the biggest game since their formation on Monday night when they host Norwich City U21s at the Walks (7.45pm).The Canaries’ young guns visit Lynn in the quarter-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup.Looking ahead to the glamour tie between the two clubs, King’s Lynn Town Academy director Alex Cross said: “It’s a fantastic occasion for everyone connected with the club, in particular the players who have worked hard so far this season in their training, games for the U23s and loans/dual registrations.”Without a doubt, it’s going to be tough but when these players are on it, they can run anyone close.”We’ve found some inconsistency and it is hard to manage player load/game time with the lads being at different stages constantly but it’s a game that everyone’s been looking forward to since the draw was made, we are excited to go head to head with an EFL academy.“I think it does show how far we have come in the past three seasons. Going from a broken pathway and an academy that was poorly run into a setup that has a clear vision and structure, giving players the opportunity to progress into a full-time training model.”We know there is still a long way to go and our infrastructure still needs to develop but we are pleased with where we are.
