King’s Lynn Town U23s face the biggest game since their formation on Monday night when they host Norwich City U21s at the Walks (7.45pm).The Canaries’ young guns visit Lynn in the quarter-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup.Looking ahead to the glamour tie between the two clubs, King’s Lynn Town Academy director Alex Cross said: “It’s a fantastic occasion for everyone connected with the club, in particular the players who have worked hard so far this season in their training, games for the U23s and loans/dual registrations.”Without a doubt, it’s going to be tough but when these players are on it, they can run anyone close.”We’ve found some inconsistency and it is hard to manage player load/game time with the lads being at different stages constantly but it’s a game that everyone’s been looking forward to since the draw was made, we are excited to go head to head with an EFL academy.“I think it does show how far we have come in the past three seasons. Going from a broken pathway and an academy that was poorly run into a setup that has a clear vision and structure, giving players the opportunity to progress into a full-time training model.”We know there is still a long way to go and our infrastructure still needs to develop but we are pleased with where we are. We hope there can be as many Linnets as possible in attendance and getting behind the U23s on Monday.”In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division tomorrow, Downham Town host fellow play-off contenders Mulbarton Wanderers in a crucial game at the Memorial Field. On Tuesday night, Fakenham strengthened their hopes of a top-half finish as they came from behind to beat Walsham le Willows 5-2 at the Daly Group Stadium.Jayden Wright, Joshua Youngs, Jay Myhill and Lewis Bonner were all on target for the Ghosts who host Ely City tomorrow.Heacham, who are without a game at the weekend, has appointed a new chairman in Mark Cosham. In the First Division North tomorrow, Swaffham Town travel to Haverhill Rovers.
