On a glorious autumnal day at Gatehouse Lane, West Norfolk’s U15s breathed new life into their season with a commanding performance against Norwich, showcasing grit, flair, and unity. Both teams commenced with intensity, Norwich seeking to power through West Norfolk’s staunch defence, while the hosts relied on speed and precise handling to carve open opportunities. After 20 minutes of parity, Norwich struck first, driving over in the left corner to lead 0-5.But West Norfolk, determined to rewrite their narrative, responded brilliantly.Relentless pressure deep in Norwich territory forced a loose kick, which Amaru Casaleiro pounced upon, slicing through the defence to level the score at 5-5.Sensing a shift in momentum, West Norfolk pressed their advantage.A surging run by Milan, combined with the forwards’ tireless work, laid the platform for Casaleiro’s second try before half-time. Crisp, accurate passing created the space, and West Norfolk headed into the break with a 10-5 lead. The second half began with West Norfolk firmly on the front foot.Clean ball from a solid scrum allowed the backs to demonstrate their cohesion, ripping through the Norwich defence to set up Casaleiro’s hat-trick try under the posts.Lewis Hart’s conversion extended the lead to 17-5, thrilling the crowd. Norwich, however, refused to yield. They returned to their power game, bulldozing over twice to snatch a 17-19 lead. But West Norfolk rose to the challenge. Slick passing and powerful running from Milan reasserted their dominance. Another strong scrum created the chance for Fletcher Milnes to exploit a gap and dart over, reclaiming the lead at 22-19.In the final minutes, West Norfolk sealed victory in style. Quick thinking from Milnes opened space for Casaleiro to gallop down the wing for his fourth try, with Milnes adding the extras to cap off a 29-19 triumph.Led by Man of the Match Jacob Hancock, West Norfolk U15s delivered the performance they and their supporters had been craving, winding down the clock and celebrating a win that signals a bright future for the season ahead.West Norfolk: Rhys Allerton, Logan Barrett, Joseph Bowen, Amaru Casaleiro, Anthony Collings, Charles Green, Jacob Hancock, Lewis Hart, Samuel McKenzie, Finley Mallett, Fletcher Milnes, Patrick Oughton-Tooke, Milan Prostikov, Rowan Ryder, Felix Slingsby, Oliver Stevenson and Hayden Wesley James.
