West Norfolk members ‘Walk The Dinosaur’ at 5k

This weekend’s efforts from West Norfolk Athletic Club members started at the popular Dinosaur Dash 5k at Roarr Amusement Park in Lenwade.The event, held on Friday evening and hosted by Norwich Road Runners consisted of a 5k race for 16 years and up and a 2.5k race for Juniors.Both races had participants running through the popular Norfolk attraction on courses that included varied terrain, technical turns and a challenging hill, all of which made for tough race conditions.With a mix of junior and senior races, the night provides a family-friendly atmosphere for all levels of runners.Starting with the juniors 2.5k race, WNAC had success at the top end of the field with two athletes in the top three finishers.Henry Gosnell stormed home to finish the 2.5k course with a time of 9:13 claiming first place overall.James Watts continued to impress with a third-place finish overall, and a time of 9:36. Thomas Elsdon was next home for the club, running 10:49 to finish 10th overall and claim third in the U17 category. Lauren Lawrence finished 19th overall with a time of 11:31 claiming third third girl overall while Jessica Watts came 38th overall with a time of 12:52 and was fourth in the under-10 girls category.Abe Gosnell celebrated a three-minute improvement from last year, finishing with a time of 15:16 for 87th overall and Anya Fairthorn was placed 90th overall with a time of 15:25.New training membership Mason Napthen finished 39th with a time 12:54. In the 5k, WNAC athletes also enjoyed some success.Callum Stanforth returned to racing to claim first overall with a time of 16:36. Adam Howard was next over the line for WNAC, not only placing 10th overall, but also winning the VET 45-49 category with a time of 19:34.Darren Easter also enjoyed a solid debut for his new club, running 19:43, placing 12th overall and winning the VET 50-54 category too. Easter and Howard were having a compelling race between themselves before Easter nobly helped a fellow runner push their buggy up the course’s challenging hill.Hanley Angell was placed 32nd overall, running a time of 21:39, Rob Gosnell ran 22:45 and was placed 44th overall.Jessica Lawrence was placed 80th overall with a finishing time of 24:37 and Kelly Watts crossed the line with a time of 27:57 and was placed 131st overall.
