Tommy Fletcher is confident he will deliver his best performance yet when he returns to the ring at the famous York Hall, in London, next month.
The Hockwold cum Wilton resident boasts a perfect 4-0 record since turning professional in July last year.
Fletcher continued his winning start to life in the pro ranks with a comfortable points victory against Darryl Sharp at the OVO Arena Wembley in January.
And the 21-year-old cruiserweight prospect is now preparing for a bout with Poland’s Pawel Strykowski (3-22-1) at the iconic venue in Bethnal Green, being shown live on BT Sport, on Friday, June 9.
“He’s a tall opponent, 6’3”, he’s Polish and I’m going to knock him out,” Fletcher declared.
“Between my last fight and this one it’s been something like five months, but I’ve still been flat out training in the gym.
“I haven’t been resting. I’ve been training hard. I went out to Dubai for two weeks of sparring.
“It was good, hot weather training and it was really good preparation for my fight.
“It was like a pre-training camp and I’ve come back now as fit as anything. I could fight this Saturday, that’s how good I feel.
“I’ve been training with Mark Tibbs and Jimmy Tibbs and I’ve got some really good sparring in with people like Johnny Fisher and Cheavon Clarke.
“I’ve got some great, tasty sparring in.
“I’ll keep chipping away and I’ll be peaking come fight night.
“I’ve still got a couple of weeks left of training, but I’m really confident this will be my best performance yet.”
Fletcher will feature on a card that also includes WBO European heavyweight champion David Adeleye, IBF European lightweight king Mark Chamberlain and WBC International Silver super lightweight title holder Henry Turner all in action.
With his first four bouts having all been inside large indoor arenas such as The O2 and the AO Arena, next month’s bout at York Hall, which has a capacity of 1,200, will pose a different atmosphere for Fletcher to contend with.
“York Hall is an iconic venue and the home of boxing,” he said.
“Everyone has fought there. AJ (Anthony Joshua), (Tyson), Fury, they’ve all fought there.
“I’ve done all the big arenas, but it’s nice to tick this one off as well.
“When you talk about boxing everyone thinks of York Hall.
“I’m really excited for this one. I’ll be bringing all of Norfolk down there with me.
“I’ll sell a lot of tickets and in a venue like that it’s going to erupt.
“It’s going to be scenes. It’s going to be good.”
