Micromax karting ace Jenson Sayell, 10, sealed a sensational championship treble at the weekend.
The Marshland St James driver rounded off a memorable campaign by adding the Hunts Kart Racing Club 2023 championship to his Super One and London Cup Championships.
On Sayell’s display, sponsor Chris Phillips, from Superstox 99, “It was great to finally catch up and watch Jenson race.
“What impressed me the most is his ability to be fast straight from the off on cold tyres and then his ability to read the race in front of him.
“He’s planning two or three corners ahead. His racecraft and intelligence is far beyond his young age”.
After a foggy start the track was drying but still slippery.
Sayell started sixth for Heat one, dropping to eighth on the first corner with Lucien Smith taking up the early lead.
The youngster quickly made up places to move into second on lap 4 of 10 and chased down Smith to pass him on lap seven, pulling out a 1.5 second lead by the chequered flag also taking the fastest lap with a time of 48.26.
Drawn seventh on the grid for Heat two, Sayell was third after a hectic first corner and moved into first on lap two.
Sayell again took the fastest lap with a time of 47.98 on his way to the chequered flag before a five-second penalty after the race saw him demoted to second.
He qualified on pole for the final with light rain prior to the race leaving the track quite tricky.
But in a flawless drive, he finished some 8.5 seconds ahead of the chasing pack at the chequered flag, again taking the fastest lap.
The youngster’s next challenge moving up to InterMax, an Intermediate Rotax Class for 10-13 year-olds using a more powerful 125cc engine.
Dad Rob is confident Jenson will cope well with the transition.
“We were very proud of Jenson this weekend, on a very cold slippery track he showed his talent against a good field, he said.
“He’s had a fantastic season in Micromax and we are now looking forward to what Rotax InterMax brings.”
After a successful outing with the Ambition Motorsport team at the prestigious London Cup event, Sayell has joined the team for 2024.
“Jenson enjoyed being part of Ambition Motorsport and was made very welcome,” added Rob.
“We will also be working with Force Motorsport and James Taylor to continue getting the best engine performance and driver coaching for him.”
