West Norfolk athletes shine at final event of summer

Athletics Norfolk hosted the final Track and Field Open event of the summer at the SportsPark Norwich last weekend.This event gave the athletes a chance to maybe close the season with a good time, height, or distance before heading into their winter block of training.There were a few West Norfolk athletes from across the age groups who took advantage of the event, and some came away with some excellent results.For the Under-15s, Rebecca Johnson finished first in the 75m Hurdles in 11.60sec and was third in the 100m 13.52sec.Thomas Green finished first over two rounds of the 100m. In round one he ran a personal best of 13.41sec, and in round two finished in 13.51sec.Ethan Ward finished second in the 1500m in 4m:39:94sec with a new PB while Isla Jackson was first in the triple jump with a 9.33m leap.For the U13s, Luke Anderson finished first in the 100m in 13.68sec, Elly Jackson was second in the high jump with a PB of 1.35m. Matas Petreikis had a busy evening. He finished first in the long jump with a 4.45m leap, cleared 1.20m in the high jump for joint third and stormed to first in the 75m hurdles in 15.15sec. For the U17s, Owen Cooper was fourth in the 100m 12.30sec, and in the 200m finished second in 25.13sec with PBs.Evie Clayton finished the 1500m in 1st place in a new personal best time of 5m:25:10sec.U20 Hanley Angell was fourth in the 800m in 2m.22.34sec with a PB. U11 James Watt finished the 600m in first with a PB of 1m:52:18sec.Alfie Williams, and older brother Charlie were first and second in the senior men’s s. Alfie threw 14.11m and Charlie came close to his PB with 11.47m.Another well-organised event by Athletics Norfolk and all the volunteers and officials. There were some top performances by WNAC athletes.
