West Norfolk athletes in East Anglian League finals

West Norfolk Athletic Club’s composite team had four out of eight age group teams that qualified for the East Anglian League finals at Bury St Edmunds.This is a huge achievement with such a small number of athletes.The Under-13 boys finished overall in sixth place.Luke Anderson was second in the 100m in 13.5sec, second in the 200m in 28.1sec in a tight finish and sixth in the A string shot with 5.98m.Matas Petreikis finished second in the A string long jump with 4.39m, third in the 75m hurdles in 15.7sec, and third in the high jump with a 1.40m.Wilf Gosnell threw a personal best performance in the discus for seventh with 13.95m throw while Samuel Howard was fourth in the B string long jump with 3.32m and fifth in the shot with 5.05m.Jake Villalard was second in the B string 100m in 14.4sec, while Miller Crane was third in the B string 20m in 31.3sec and fourth in the javelin with 24.97m. Leo Bacon was sth in the A string 1500m in 5m47.8sec and the team finished fifth in the 4x100m in 59.0sec. T U15 girls finished sixth overall.Rebecca Johnson clocked 11.6sec for first in the A string 75m hurdles, third in the A string 100m in 13.5sec, and second in the A string high jump with 1.45m.Anya Faithorn was fourth in the B string 100m in 14.8sec, seventh in the shot with 6.27m and fourth in the B string javelin with 10.74m. Saffron Howell was second in the B string 300m in 46.6sec and fifth in the A string 200m in 30.3sec.Jessica Lawrence was sixthe in the B string 200m in 32.3sec, fifth in the A string 1500m in 6m.16.0sec and seventh in the long jump with 3.13m. Eve Townshend was fourth in the A string the 300m in 47.5sec and fifth in the A string 800m in 2m44.3sec while Saffron Howell was second in the B string 300m in 46.6sec.Laila Chapman was fth in the B string 800m in 2m51.4sec, and sixth in the A string Javelin with 12.0m. The team finished the 4x100m in third in 56.8sec.The senior men finished eighth overall.Louis Preston was first in the A string javelin with a 41.11m throw, seventh in the 100m A string in 13.3sec, and seventh in the A string long jump with 4.71m.Cameron Ross was seventh in the B string 100m in 14.1sec, and in the A string 200m in 29.7sec, and sixth in the B string long jump with 4.24m. Adam Howard was second in the B string javelin with 29.21m, sixth in the shot with 7.23m and eighth in the A string discus with 17.99m.Karl Brown was fourth in the A string high jump with 1.50m and seventh in the A string 800m in 2m20.8sec.Rob Gosnell was sixth in the B string 800m in 2m52.8sec while Mitchell Bunn was fourth in the A string 1500m in 4m17.0sec.Michael Prothoroe was eighth in the A string shot with 7.76m, and fourth in the B string discus with 14.35m. The senior women made up of just two athletes were eight overall.Jen Gosnell was seventh in the A string shot with 6.35m and in the A string discus with 15.30m, eighth in the A string hammer with 15.43m (PB) and seventh in the javelin A string with 16.02m.Carole Preston was seventh in the B string shot with 5.32m and in the B string discus 12.17m and seventh in the B string Javelin with 12.93m.Thanks to all the athletes, volunteers, field officials, and timekeepers who helped make these events happen.Also to West Norfolk team manager Sharon Ross for pulling everyone together for each event and making everything run as smoothly as possible behind the scenes.
