West Norfolk athletes GEAR up for a super Sunday of results

Eighteen of West Norfolk AC’s finest athletes took to the roads last Sunday for the popular annual 10k challenge, with a further number representing in the Mini GEAR.

Each year, thousands of runners gather to take part in the Recipharm Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) 10k.

The club was also represented in the Mini GEAR and this was open to children and adults of all abilities, and takes in a 1.9KM course, setting off from Tuesday Market Place.

The 10k race that saw Dominic Marray-Woods finishing in 39th place, as the first home for West Norfolk AC.

Marray-Woods was 23rd in the senior men’s category. He was followed closely by Neil Stapleton in 46th place overall and seventh place in over Mens over 50 category.

Rob Gosnell, Lee Anderson and Louise Rice all achieved personal best performances on the day.

There were also some brilliant performances over the 1.9k distance too.

Under-15 athlete Henry Gosnell finished in a fantastic third place overall after almost running his socks off.

Matas Petreikis had a brilliant run to finish in sixth place.

Laila Chapman also did really well and was near the front end in the finish.

This year she managed to avoid destroying her dad, as last year he tried to keep up and had the paramedics approach him at the end.

Honourable mentions go to India Richardson, Liam Allitt, Jess Lawrence and James Watts all flying the club colours well done all.

10k race results for West Norfolk

Dominic Marray-Woods in 39th and 23rd in male senior category 37m.46sec.

Neil Stapleton finished in 38m.05sec, 46th place overall and seventh place in over Mens over 50 category.

Harry Malton came home in 51st place, 27th in senior men’s category in 38m.30sec.

Alfie Bone was 65th home overall and 33rd senior men category in 39m 16sec.

Ben Collision came in 120th overall and 30th in the over 40 men’s category in 42m.12sec.

Lee Richardson was close behind finishing 121st place overall and 31st in over 40 men’s category. Richardson clocked a personal best time of 42m.29sec.

Jamie Cooperman finished in 133rd spot and 37th in the over 40 men’s category in 43m.53sec.

Rob Gosnell finished in 159th position and 45th in the over 40 men’s category with a personal best time of 44m.02sec

Sam Stringer was the first West Norfolk female athlete home in 44m.34sec. The 25th placed female overall and 11th in the over 40 women’s category, fantastic effort.

Dom Hargrave was 255th man home and 125 in the senior men’s race. He finished in 46m.33sec.

Mark Garrett finished 274th overall and was 48th in the over 50 men’s category in 46m.58sec.

Gavin Lane was 343rd overall and 65th in the over 50 men’s category in 48m.46sec.

Ricky Bailey finished in 467th place and was 97th in the over 50 men’s category in 51.50sec.

Katrina Wasteney was the 96th female home and 15th in the over 50 women’s category in 52.18sec.

Debbie Schwarz was the 107th female to finish and was 18th in the over 50 women’s category in 52m.35sec.

Mike Stollery was the 560th man home and 268th in the senior men’s category with a time of 54m.13sec

Linus Marray-Woods was the 640th man home and 138th in the over 50’s men’s category with a time of 56m.11sec.

Stuart Freeman was 645th and 140th in the over 50 men’s category in 55m.22sec.

Louise Rice was home in 494th place and was 102nd in the over 50 women’s category with a personal best time of 1hr.06m.11sec, well done.
