Under-13s triumph at tri-festival

Under-13 players from West Norfolk Rugby Club travelled to Peterborough to take part in a tri-county festival.

Twelve teams from across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincoln converged between the sticks on the main pitch, standing united and proud in their club colours in front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters and photographers.

The popular skills challenge quickly sorted out the players into groups to compete in the three challenges of tug of war, passing and kicking skills.

West excelled in all three events which fuelled their confidence going into the first match against Sleaford.

Tries were scored by Freddie Farr (2), Ben Taylor- Bunting, Jack Godfrey- Leggett (2) and Charlie Cook to secure West Norfolk’s place in the semi-finals against Mansfield.

A flawless display of catching and running from Taylor-Bunting saw him run in three tries with Ethan Kilian, Godfrey-Leggett and Farr also on the scoresheet.

Unfortunately, fellow finalists Bourne conceded due to injuries resulting in West being crowned tournament winners, and the good spirit of the game shone through and provided a final ‘friendly’ game between West and hosts Peterborough.
