Under-11 boys on the podium at latest QuadKids event

West Norfolk Athletics Club had a good turnout of athletes for the third event of the QuadKids series with Miller Crane, Teagan Thorne and Kacey Gray having their first taste of the action.Over in the U11 girls category, Thorne and Gray enjoyed a great debut, with 25th and 30th places respectively in a large field.Thorne had her highest points in the standing long jump where she jumped a big 1m64 and had a great howler throw over 17m.Gray recorded her highest points in the long jump with 1m44 and 600m with 2.46.Sofia Gilboy was 15th overall after consistent points with her best in the 75m, 13.9, and long jump, 1m64.Jess Watts continued the family tradition of running well in the endurance events in the 600m, 2.28, for 19th overall.In the long jump, Poppy-Lee Roylance registered 1m70 for equal-11th and a fast 13.3 75m sprint for her next best points and 21st overall. The U11 boys had James Watts and Liam Allitt on the podium. Watts was second with 189 points and Allitt third with 185.The 600m saw Watts first with 1m58 for first before finishing equal-first in the 75m with 12.7.Allitt threw 24m35 in the howler for third, taking after his mum with a natural throwing arm, and ran 2.12 in the 600. Oliver Anderson, as one of the younger competitors, clocked 13.9in the sprint and recorded 1m57 in the long jump for 18th.In the U13s, Luke Anderson was close to the podium in fourth with 233 points, his highest points coming in the 800m with 2.45 and the 100m with 14.4s. Matas Petreikis won the long jump with 4m15 and threw more than 30m in the howler for seventh.Crane threw 37m70 for third in the howler and ran 3.03 in the 800m for ninth overall. Samuel Howard threw 28m and clocked 16.1 in the 100m to score consistent points across all events for 18th place.Jacob Dale ran a brilliant PB of 3.07 in the 800m and improved his throw to 26m for 20th overall.Rhys Howard, again one of the youngest competing, got his best points in the throw, his strongest event, with 25.24 and was just shy of his long jump PB with 3m35 for 22nd overall.For the U13 girls, Casey Ward put a recent injury behind her to record 2.51 in the 800m (4th overall) and 16.5m in the 100 for eighth place. Sofia Mackeviciute had a great long jump of 3.53 and sprinted 16.1 for the 100m to an overall position of 14th.Thanks to all of the competitors and all the officials and helpers on the day.The next QuadKids event takes place at Thetford on June 30.
