West Norfolk U10 have made history by qualifying to play in a competition at the home stadium of the Gallagher Premiership team Leicester.
This is the first time in the history of West Norfolk Rugby Club that an U10 team has reached this point in the competition since the club began taking part in 2005.
This tournament will be held on the stadium pitch before the Tigers match against Harlequins on November 11.
The youngsters qualified after travelling to Wymondham to compete in the Leicester Tigers Cup and
The Cup involves four Regional Festivals across the Tigers Community of Leicestershire, Norfolk, Staffs and NLD, with selected teams then invited to take part in the tournament in Leicester.
West took a squad of eight players: Adrian Farao, Charlie Craven, George Dack, George Jackson, Rory Turner-Sears, Sam Fitzgerald, William Collison and William Deadman.
All eight players played all five games against Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Holt, Wymondham and Norwich Crusaders. It was a physically tough day for the group, but they showed discipline and sportsmanship all the way.
West scored some brilliant tries and also showcased the right teamwork and desired behaviours and as a reward won their place at Leicester.
Coaches Ellen Collison and Jon Turner-Sears, would like to thank the team’s support networks of friends, parents and most of all the players. “We have a brilliant rugby family at West, that loves the sport, the kids amaze me week on week. It’s a lovely environment to be in,” said Ellen Collison.
