Tough draw for Ghosts in FA Vase

Fakenham Town will entertain 2022 FA Vase winners Newport Pagnell Town in the Second Round of this year’s competition.

The Ghosts beat South Midlands Premier League mid-tablers Cockfosters 2-0 in the First Round on Saturday with goals from Jake Watts and sub Jude Frostick.

Pagnell, who were also FA Vase runners-up at Wembley this year, are currently fifth in the United Counties League Premier Division South.

Downham Town have been handed an away tie at Great Wakering Rovers, who are currently ninth in the Essex Senior League. The Reds beat Coggeshall Town from the same division on Saturday (report on pages 30 and 31).

Heacham’s First Round game at South Midlands Premier League leaders St Panteleimon on Saturday evening was called off with the visitors just 20 minutes from the ground.

Should they win the rescheduled fixture tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, Heacham will entertain Thurlow Nunn Premier League title challengers Mildenhall Town.
