The weather this summer may be short of sun but runners from Terrington St Clement Running Club recently ran in the sun at the Summer Ready running event at Ferry Meadows, Peterborough, which was organised by Zig Zag Running. The event offered medals for running various distances by completing several laps of a 5km trail course around the Country Park.A group of eleven runners from the club attended the event on a warm but breezy day with their support team and individually ran 10k, 15k or half-marathon distances.A new member to the group, John Greenwood, ran his first half-marathon as part of his challenge to run 100k in July for Cancer Research UK.It was a lucky day for John as he won the start line raffle and received a free entry to another Zig Zag Running event.Married couple Helen and Mark Garrett were in great form as they both ran PB times for their 10k and half-marathon distances. The runners attending the event were Helen Garrett, Jo Bartrum, Andrew Collins, Mark Garrett, Adrian Pepper, Adam Sherrard, Kirstie Slater, Alan Bartrum, Hollie Little, Linda Pepper and John Greenwood. All runners were a credit to the club as they showed how much progress they had made since joining the club in the three years since it was formed. The team enjoyed the event, which offered an opportunity for runners to challenge themselves in relaxed surroundings. They especially enjoyed the post-run refreshments laid on by the organisers and hope to run another Zig Zag event soon.Next up for the club is the Run Sandringham 24 event in August with Jake Whitehouse running in the solo event and nine other members forming a relay team. The event aims to run a course through Sandringham Estate and cover as many laps as possible within 24 hours.
