It was double delight for Terrington Tigers in the Mid Norfolk Youth League (MNYL) Girl’s Divisions on Saturday, picking up wins in both competitive age groups.
In the only fixture of the weekend in the Under 14s, the Tigers hosted last year’s champions Heacham, who were cursing their luck in losing two players through illness on the morning of the game.
Terrington goals from Summer Ringer and Alice Todd (2) did the damage, with two assists from Alice Wenn on only her second-ever appearance.
Heacham replied with two from Summer Mann, but could not quite restore parity thanks in no short measure to Leila Todd who was resolute between the sticks for the Tigers.
Special mention should also go to Mercedes Ottoway who put in a true captain’s performance for Heacham, although this time in vain with the final score of 3-2.
In the Under 12s, Terrington completed the club double with an 8-2 victory at home to KLSC Lionesses.
KLSC goals came from Summer Ellis and Elsie-May Collison, but Laila Ringer (5), Poppy Allan (2) and Mia Choppen strikes were enough to move the Tigers to the top of the table.
Elsewhere, Watlington picked up the points on the road away to Gaywood.
Goals from Evie Drew (2), Tia Rowland and Lacey Dye secured a 4-0 victory, which ensured that it remains extremely tight
at the top of the table in what looks to be a hotly-contested competition.
The final game of the weekend saw Necton pick up their second win in as many weeks, this time 2-1 at home to Heacham.
First-half goals from Marcelina Wozniak, finding the top corner for her first-ever goal, and Maddie Crowe breaking the opposition back line, put Necton in charge.
Heacham were not to go away quietly though, pulling one back through Ella Shaw with a superb finish, and just falling short in a breathless second half.
