King’s Lynn complete a tough season tomorrow night when they make the short trip to A47 rivals Peterborough.
It’s the final Sports Insure Premiership match of the season and very sadly it looks like being the MacInnes Stars’ last appearance at the East of England Arena, which is set to close for a proposed development leaving the Panthers homeless.
If it does turn out to be the end for the home club, at least for the time being, they are certainly going out on a high with a string of recent wins, and they recently had a major effect on the play-off race with their 58-32 victory over Leicester preventing the Lions from finishing in the top four, and ensuring Ipswich squeezed in.
Former Stars rider Artem Laguta has spent the closing weeks of the campaign with the Panthers but he is now absent with an ankle problem having helped injury-hit Wroclaw into the Polish Ekstraliga play-off Final last weekend.
The Panthers bring in Richard Lawson to guest at No.1, with their fortunes having improved since the mid-season arrival of Vadim Tarasenko and then the later return of Chris Harris.
For the Stars, No.1 Robert Lambert lines up as usual after re-arranging his schedule which involved preparations for this weekend’s Danish Grand Prix, and the club are very grateful for his co-operation.
Former Lynn racer Lewis Kerr stands in for Nicolai Klindt with Connor Mountain replacing Thomas Jorgensen, with rider replacement in operation for Emil Breum who is absent due to the SGP2 finale at Vojens on Friday.
The R/R rides can be taken by Michael Palm Toft, Mountain and reserves Simon Lambert and Anders Rowe.
Team manger David Hoggart said: “We had hoped to have a full complement of riders but with injuries and Emil riding in the SGP2, we weren’t able to do that.
“We are grateful that Robert re-scheduled a few things at his end to ensure he could ride, and that means we should be able to put on a good show at least.
“The Panthers are riding very well and if this had been their team at the beginning of the season, they would probably have been up near the top of the league.”
Peterborough Panthers: Richard Lawson, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Benjamin Basso, Chris Harris, Vadim Tarasenko, Ben Cook, Jordan Jenkins.
King’s Lynn Stars: Robert Lambert, Lewis Kerr, Emil Breum R/R, Connor Mountain, Michael Palm Toft, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
