Lynn rider Chris Harris led Great Britain to victory in the FIM Long Track of Nations for the first time in a decade at Vechta on Sunday.
The meeting in Germany was restarted after being abandoned due to heavy rain the previous evening, and the GB side captained by Harris defeated the Netherlands in the Final.
GB always looked likely to claim one of the two qualifying places, and they led the scoring on 56 points, seven clear of the Dutch, with holders Germany one point adrift and missing out on the Final.
Mechanical issues had caused some anxiety and it was the Netherlands who hit trouble before the Final, with top rider Romano Hummel timed out before Zach Wajtknecht, Harris and Andrew Appleton raced to a maximum points win over Dutch duo Dave Meijerink and Mika Meijer.
The team was completed by reserve Cameron Taylor and manager Mitch Godden – and Harris will now go for Individual glory as part of a three-way World title fight in Roden this Sunday.
Harris won Round 3 at Scheesel last month and is now four points behind leader Lukas Fienhage, with Wajtknecht two behind the German in a battle which looks set to go down to the wire.
