King’s Lynn’s new National Development Trophy team will go into action for the first time at Birmingham on Monday, April 14.The fixtures for the third tier are out with the Young Stars part of a competition which will see them take on the Bulls, Kent, Leicester and Plymouth – and possibly Mildenhall. There are no play-offs with the trophy to be decided purely based on positions at the end of the league schedule.Leicester are the addition to the NDT compared to the set-up originally announced, as the East Midlands side replaced Workington and will be tracking two separate teams in both the NDT and parallel NDL competitions. So although Leicester have signed Max Perry and Cooper Rushen for their Lion Cubs team in the NDL, this does not affect the Young Stars as the two riders will both be in Lynn colours when they take on the Fox Cubs in the NDT.Wednesday night will be race night for home matches, with the opener at the Adrian Flux Arena scheduled for April 30 and the return match against Birmingham.Home matches then follow against Leicester (June 25), Kent (July 16) and Plymouth (August 13). There is also a possibility of a late entry into the competition in the form of East Anglian neighbours Mildenhall, who were not involved in the sport last year. A committee has been established aiming to bring speedway back to West Row, and dates have reportedly been agreed with stadium ownership.Should they get the green light from the sport’s authorities, it would likely see the Fen Tigers becoming the sixth team in the NDT competition.Fixtures Mon, Apr 14 – Birmingham v King’s LynnWed, Apr 30 – King’s Lynn v Birmingham Sun, May 11 – Leicester v King’s Lynn (3pm)Wed, June 25 – King’s Lynn v Leicester Sat, July 12 – Plymouth v King’s Lynn (7pm)Wed, July 16 – King’s Lynn v KentSun, Aug 10 – Kent v King’s Lynn (12pm)Wed, Aug 13 – King’s Lynn v Plymouth
