Three King’s Lynn Stars fans have started a new podcast series called The Pride of the East.Nathan Bunting, Chris Abbs and Andrew Howell are all long-time Stars fans and decided during the off-season to start a podcast dedicated to the Stars.Bunting already runs a popular speedway podcast called Round the Boards which is now in its third year, but had always wanted to do something that covered his local team.Bunting said: “Following the success of Round the Boards, I’d always thought about doing a podcast about the Stars, so I reached out to Chris and Andrew to see if they would be interested, and thankfully they were.”“I’ve known Chris and Andrew for a number of years and knew they are as equally passionate about the Stars as I am, so thought they would be perfect to co-host the show with me.”“We are an unofficial podcast but we are hoping to have a positive relationship with the club going forward.”Hopefully it might even attract people back to watching the Stars who may have been lost to the sport for whatever reason by reigniting some of the good memories they have.”The podcast will run throughout the season and will cover all the Stars’ latest news and offer a platform for the fans to share their thoughts on the current season and their favourite memories of Stars meetings and riders past and present. The podcast will also feature interviews with former Stars riders. This week’s episode will feature popular former rider Emmerson Fairweather who rode for the club between 1992 and 1994.Another former Stars favourite Dennis Lofqvist has also been lined up for the following week’s episode.Lofqvist rode for the Stars between 1989 to 1992 and was a hugely-popular figure during his time at the club.Episode one is out now and available for free on the Spotify platform.New episodes will come out most Thursday’s throughout the season and will be available on other streaming platforms soon. After the success of the first episode, the podcast has also been signed up to the Sport Social Podcast Network, which is Europe’s largest dedicated sport podcast network.Howell said “We’ve been blown away by the positive feedback we’ve had from the first episode. Stars fans seemed to enjoy our all time 1-7’s and we’ve already had fans sending us their own to include on the show.“For Chris and myself, this is all new. We both weren’t sure what to expect and pretty nervous before recording the first show, but we both enjoyed it and we’re all delighted with how it’s been received.”Abbs added “We wanted to give the fans a platform to share their thoughts on how the team are doing and share their experiences of following the Stars. With an exciting team to watch this season, we’re hoping this is the perfect time to start the podcast.”If anyone would like to share any Stars-related thoughts and memories to feature on the podcast, they can be contacted on Facebook by searching Pride of the East or on X (formerly Twitter @PrideOfTheEas49
