King’s Lynn return to ROWE Motor Oil Premiership action after a fortnight’s break when they host Oxford at the Adrian Flux Arena tomorrow night (7.30pm).The PSH Environmental Stars eked out a crucial win over Leicester last time out, clinching victory in a last heat decider, and now they will look to repeat their KO Cup success over the Spires. When the sides met in March, Lynn were 53-37 winners on their own circuit before completing the job at Cowley three nights later, and the visitors are yet to get on the board in the league this season after a tough run of matches. But with the quality of Maciej Janowski in their line-up along with fast-gating Rohan Tungate and ex-Star Erik Riss, the Spires should not be under-estimated.Lynn bring in Tom Brennan at No.1 to guest for the injured Ben Cook, whilst Chris Harris races at reserve for the final time before the change of averages.Meanwhile with regular team manager Rob Lyon abroad, former Stars skipper Simon Lambert – who currently takes charge of the ‘Steelers’ team in the National Development League as well as racing for Scunthorpe in the Championship – stands in for the first time at Premiership level.Lambert quipped: “These boys know what they’re doing, and it’s a pretty simple script isn’t it? Bomber gets seven rides, King’s Lynn win and I’m one for one! “Seriously, Rob is a bloke who I’ve always looked up to and he’s someone I’ve phoned when I’ve been struggling, because in my view he’s the most knowledgeable bloke who’s never ridden speedway. “He knows all the right things to say and he’s very good at his job, and I have a lot of time and respect for him and his family.“I am speedway through and through, it’s the best sport in the world, and this is something I want to try and do well because when I hang my kevlars up it’s the next step of my life – I can’t ever imagine my life without speedway.“It’s weird when you think Niels (Iversen) rode in my Testimonial and now I’m going to be managing him, but it’s another tick on the bucket list and another thing to go on the CV. “Where this is different for me is that in the National League I’m saying to the boys they’re there to enjoy it and to improve, so I don’t like taking them out of races because if they don’t get the opportunity on track they’re never going to progress.“Obviously, this is completely different. Every point counts, King’s Lynn want to make the play-offs, and it looks like it could be a race between them and Leicester to do it. “I know they’re trying to get the balance right with the team and having lost Cookie as well, but if they all do their jobs then actually Bomber should only get Heat 15 as the extra ride.“I’m not there to tell them what to do, but I’m a captain and a motivator and if I need to get my hands dirty on the spanners to help out, I’m happy to do that. “When I race my bike, I race to win, I’m all in with that, and on Monday night I want King’s Lynn to win. It’s always had a place in my heart, and after they’ve asked me to do this, I’ll give it my all.”King’s Lynn: Tom Brennan, Jan Kvech, Nicolai Klindt, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Ashton Boughen.Oxford: Rohan Tungate, Erik Riss, Charles Wright, Peter Kildemand, Maciej Janowski, Francis Gusts, Luke Killeen.
