Snettisham motorcyclist seals rookie title

Race ace Callum Manley secured his place as Rookie 600 Champion for 2023 with a clean sweep of wins at his home track of Snetterton.

The Snettisham motorbike racer gave a masterclass of rides, having had one hand on the title with a 43-point lead over his nearest rival going into the weekend.

With one round left at the end of the month, Manley is also currently tied on points to claim the rookie champion of Brands with the leader of the 1000cc rookie class, Karl Thompson.

On Saturday morning, the rookie 600s were first up for qualifying.

Manley and his machine were the first pairing out, and he guided his 2007 Honda CBR600RR around the 2.9-mile track at a blistering pace.

None of his competitors came close to his qualifying time of 2:02:5 to line up in pole position.

As the lights went out it was the Honda in the skillful hands of Manley that launched itself off the line, Manley enjoying a 10-bike length gap by the first turn.

Manley took the chequered flag and would have to wait another 12.6 seconds to be joined by second-placed competitor Will Hopkins.

The second race of the day mirrored the first as Manley threw his machine into each corner to lead from start to finish.

With two races scheduled for Sunday, all Manley had to do was place his Honda in the top 10.

Once again, the West Norfolk biker launched his Honda down the straight and he was out of sight for his third win of the weekend.

Three wins soon became four after Manley catapulted his trusty Honda off the line to gain a sizeable lead over his rivals over the five laps.
