Skoyles Jnr calls time on his F1 stock car career

Willie Skoyles Jnr has announced his F1 career is coming to an end after giving his fans plenty to cheer.

His car and all his spares are up for sale with the cost of competing in the formula together being the reason.

In all the years of competing in the formula, Skoyles Jnr has built up a big local fanbase.

He has become one of West Norfolk’s most iconic drivers and is one who is never scared to get stuck in with the best.

Skoyles could potentially take part in the final 2023 F1 Lynn meeting, in October, but if he finds a buyer before then he will not be racing.

West Norfolk fans will be hoping Skoyles has put the wrong contact number on his advert until the next Lynn outing so they will be guaranteed to see him one more time at Saddlebow Road.

If Saturday was Skoyle’s swansong in F1, he did it style.

A great drive in the whites and yellows saw him come home in second place before a blistering drive in his heat saw him keep ahead of Leek shale specialist Craig Finnikin to take the chequered flag.

A blistering start in the final saw him move up to second on the first lap before claiming the lead on lap two.

The crowd were willing him on as he led the first half of the race before eventual winner and the man to beat on shale Ryan Harrison forced a way past.

The big boys were now battling at the front, but Skoyles was comfortable taking on the red top drivers and was in a top-five spot when a puncture forced his retirement with only three laps left.

Lewis Galer was also in good form taking third in the whites and yellows race but flat tyres ended the rest of his races.

Marcus Gilbert was the top performer in the F2 stock cars taking the chequered flag in the consolation but he did not feature in the top ten of the final.

Racing returns to Lynn on October 14 when banger racing hits the spotlight with both the two-litre and 1500cc bangers in action together with the unlimited lady bangers who contest their Gold Roof Final together with the junior bangers.
