A week after collecting his SuperOne Champion’s trophy local Kart racer Jenson Sayell was back on track with his MiniMax 950 at Kimbolton.The Marshland St James race ace was contesting the final round of the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship.With Storm Darragh making conditions extremely challenging, Sayell consolidated his runner-up spot in the HKRC Championship with a third and second in the heats and second in the Final, closing the gap to eventual winner Max Wheatley to just six points.Grids were drawn for the heats, and Sayell started twelfth for Heat One with Wheatley starting fourth.Despite strong wind and rain Sayell made a great start and was eighth at the end of lap one, up to fourth by lap seven and finished third behind Wheatley.Heat Two saw no let-up in the stormy weather, the youngster started third and was up to second on lap one and despite coming under pressure throughout finished second. Wheatley was sixth.Sayell qualified second for the final with Wheatley in third. Wheatley got ahead on the start dropping Sayell to third. As the rain and wind increased Sayell stayed close to his rival and making a bold overtake on the outside passed Wheatley on the penultimate lap to take second in the Final. Having won the Micromax title at Kimbolton last year it was not enough to take the double.Sayell had however closed the gap to just six points over 10 Rounds to finish MiniMax HKRC Championship runner-up.Having contested three Championships in his first year in the MiniMax/InterMax class, the youngster has had an exceptional 2024, having won the SuperOne Series and finished Vice Champion in both the CKC and HKRC championships.
