Karting ace Jenson Sayell produced another strong performance in the penultimate round of the Cadet Kart Championship (CKC).

Heading into the latest round, at Rowrah in Cumbria, in third place overall, Sayell was just 11 points behind the leader, with a maximum of 200 points still available.

Saturday’s action began with a warm-up session, where the Marshland St James driver posted the sixth-fastest time.

He improved significantly in qualifying, finishing an impressive second.

In Heat One, held in wet conditions, a misfiring engine dropped Sayell to seventh over the first few laps.

Once the issue was resolved, he recovered well to finish fifth, and was later promoted to fourth after penalties were applied to other drivers.

Heat Two was dry, and Sayell quickly got into his rhythm. He took the lead on lap three but was overtaken four laps later, ultimately finishing in a solid second place.

These consistent results placed him on pole for Sunday’s Superheats.

Superheat One proved frustrating, as Sayell led early before losing power due to a blocked carburettor jet, slipping down to seventh.

Despite the setback, he rebounded in Superheat Two with another fast start. However, unable to find the extra pace needed, he finished fourth, holding his position to the end.

The combined results from the heats secured Sayell third on the grid for the Final. Heavy rain made for extremely difficult conditions, with poor visibility and standing water on the track.

The youngster made a strong start and battled through a chaotic race, briefly losing positions before fighting back to finish fourth.

A post-race penalty for the race winner, who was judged to have gained an unfair advantage at the start, promoted him to third and earned him another valuable podium finish.

The result sees Sayell climb to second place in the CKC Championship standings, with just one round remaining.

Speaking after the event, his dad Rob said: “We keep working hard but need to find a little bit more power. We were pleased to bring home another podium.”

Jenson also expressed his gratitude to his sponsors JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Sun Lounge Tanning Studio, and Hall Clean—as well as his team: TWR Pantano, Force Motorsport, and IRemote Coaching.

His next race weekend will be in August at Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire, where he will contest Rounds 9 and 10 of the Super One Championship.

The defending champion currently sits third in the Super One standings and has finished fifth or higher in 21 of 24 races so far this season.
