West Norfolk karting champ Jenson Sayell was at Huntingdon at the weekend collecting his runner-up Championship trophy from last season.Sayell finished second in the Hunts Kart Racing Club Minimax Class – missing out on the title by just six points. It was his first season in the Intermax/MiniMax 950 class at the prestigious Kimbolton circuit, having won the HKRC Micromax championship in 2023.Over the ten-round championship, Sayell entered nine rounds taking Final podium places at five rounds with three runner-up and two third places. The Marshland St James driver also took three heat wins and two-second places from five races at Round five.It was his best and conversely, his most disappointing round, when he narrowly missed out on the K plate awarded to the winner of the Final at the Kimbolton Festival finishing just 0.2 behind of a second at the flag. His dad Rob said: “Jenson had an amazing first season in Intermax often beating drivers in their final year in the class. “To take runner-up despite missing a round is exceptional.” Sayell and the team are now focusing on 2025 using Kimbolton and other circuits for ‘seat time’ to practice and concentrate on the engine until the SuperOne and Cadet Kart Championships get underway in March.Sayell thanked Force Motorsport engine builders for the winter rebuild. The youngster managed some practice at Kimbolton last weekend before the race meeting was cancelled due to the icy conditions. Sayell expects to stay with TW Racing Team and has confirmed sponsorship from JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Sun Lounge Tanning Studio, Chris Phillips – Superstox 99, Prestige Designs and Custom Racewear. With meetings across the UK, the race ace would love to hear from anyone willing to support his karting season. Jenson Sayell Motorsport can be contacted at trudy.sayell@gmail.com or via their Facebook and Instagram pages. He is out for more testing this weekend at Whilton Mill in Northants.
