Sandringham parkrun beats the big freeze

It was a very cold start to the morning with a heavy frost at Sandringham.However, a very warm welcome greeted the 215 finishers and 23 volunteers.This week was a difficult one for hunting down volunteers, but thanks to everyone who stepped forward to help out.There were two new first-time volunteers, so special thanks to them and organisers hope they will be back again soon.Visitors today were from Oxford, Leicester, Lewes, Chelmsford, King’s Lynn, Winslow, Dereham and Middlesborough.This morning saw 215 finishers with 24 first-timers to Sandringham including eight first-timers to parkrun in: Niall Kennedy; Henry Navarro; Stuart Sayer; Nick Blackett; Beth Hill; Charles Micatta; Rachael Foskett and Susan Carter.The first finisher was Jacob Last in a new personal best time of 20:11, while the second and third were James Taylor and Sam Garratt. The first lady finisher was Hannah Greenhalgh, from Cambridge and Coleridge AC in a new PB time of 23:42. PBs were achieved by 25 finishers a great achievement by all runners in the frosty conditions, well done to all finishers.Two milestones this morning: Mathew Davies doing his 25 parkrun and Neil Rivers completing his 150 parkrun.Please remember to bring your barcode to each event and please leave the tokens, they are a vital part of each week’s parkrun. If you do find you have accidentally taken a token home contact the Sandringham team so we can arrange to retrieve the token.Parkrun cannot go ahead without volunteers so organisers are grateful for our team of volunteers at Sandringham on such a cold morning.If you would like to offer to volunteer it would be very much appreciated contact us at: Sandringham@parkrun.com
