Adam Lakeland has spoken for the first time since his sacking by King’s Lynn Town. The 40-year-old was relieved of his duties by the club during a dramatic day on Wednesday.Lakeland was appointed in September 2023, taking over from Mark Hughes, saving the club from certain relegation in his first season before steering them to the play-offs last term. But he lost his job two weeks after seeing his side lose to Chorley in a play-off eliminator at Victory Park. This morning, the northern-based boss, who is being linked with the vacant managerial jobs at both Kidderminster Harriers and AFC Fylde, released a statement saying: “So my time at King’s Lynn Town FC has come to an end.”Firstly, I’d like to thank every member of staff and the players for their hard work, dedication and commitment. “From inheriting a poor team which was lingering in the relegation zone, we worked hard to initially survive, before building a good team which ultimately thrived and got us to the play-ofs. “Despite losing out at Chorley, I had no doubt the team would have been better for the experience and kicked on next season, but it wasn’t to be.”Thanks to all of the extended support staff and volunteers whom I won’t name, but those I got closest to know who you are. Thanks to the supporters for sticking with me in the hardest days during my first few months. Hopefully, I gave you a team to be proud of. Your support was always appreciated. “I will always be grateful to the chairman for seeing something in me, giving me the opportunity and for his support throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed working for you.”Finally, thanks to Sam for your unwavering support. I couldn’t have done it without you. “Looking forward to the next chapter.”Since Lakeland’s departure in midweek, players Dylan Crowe and Greg Taylor have both decided to follow the club’s ex-boss out of the exit door at The Walks. The club, which remains in a power struggle at the top, are still in discussions with Paul Jones, Josh Coulson, Freddie Sass, Kian Ronan, Cameron Forde-Browne, and Finlay Barnes about new deals.Already under contract are: Pat Boyes, Ross Crane, Theo Williams, Paulius Falcao, Tom Wilson, Josh Hmami, Matty Warburton, Fin Whiteley, Bailey Marsden and Kyle McFadden.
