Jane Proctor scored twice as Pelicans Ladies returned home with a 3-0 victory from Peterborough on a chilly January evening.

Both teams were sitting on equal points in division East 2NW, with Pelicans looking for revenge after narrowly losing to Peterborough 4-3 at the beginning of the campaign.

Pelicans Ladies 1s went 1-0 up with a goal that originally hit a defender’s foot, but Jane Proctor took advantage of the mistake and tapped it in.

Pelicans then took advantage of the opposition and caught the home side on the counter.

Kiona Sequeira ran into the D and popped the ball to the penalty spot, where Proctor was waiting to take a shot.

The shot hit the goalkeeper’s pads and landed back in Proctor’s possession, which she then comfortably slotted away over the keeper to secure 2-0.

Pelicans’ third and final goal came from a short corner injected in by Jess Walker.

The ever-alert Proctor received and took a shot, taking a deflection off of Walker’s stick.

The ball then landed perfectly with Sequeira, who pushed it forcefully into the backboard of the goal.

Player-of-the-match went to Savannah Sherry, for a dominating performance in midfield.

On Saturday, Pelicans Ladies welcome St Ives to Alive Lynnsport.
