A serving Bedfordshire Police officer has appeared in court charged with child abduction and arranging the sexual exploitation of a child.

Pc Elliot Wright, 29, a roads policing officer who has now been suspended, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

He was arrested in Bedfordshire on Thursday night following reports of concern for a teenage girl.

The girl has been subsequently safeguarded.
