Visiting runner Julian Moynihan stormed to a new course record at Lynn Parkrun on Saturday.

The Ely-based athlete, who already held the previous best time, shaved a remarkable 20 seconds off the mark, crossing the line in a blistering 15 minutes 03 seconds.

This was a personal best and a performance that drew gasps of admiration from fellow runners and volunteers alike.

Moynihan’s display was the standout moment of a bumper turnout that saw 351 runners supported by 36 volunteers, all ensuring the event ran smoothly.

There were more reasons to celebrate as 62 participants recorded personal bests, while Kirsty Butters led the women home in 21:43.

The ever-reliable Shaun Mann once again claimed the coveted Age-Graded Hero title, posting an impressive 89.01%.

Milestone achievements added to the celebratory atmosphere. Helen Karreman completed her 100th parkrun, marking the occasion with chocolates, while Sheffield visitor Jason Brannon clocked up his 250th.

The morning also had a charitable flavour, with cakes and biscuits raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, while many runners continued the community spirit by heading to Wenn’s for the 8:56 Foundation Coffee Morning.

The event continues to thrive as a free, weekly 5k event open to all, where record-breakers and first-timers alike share the same start line.
