Optimism for Stars after positive end to 2024 season

King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon says a positive conclusion to 2024 has given the club a good boost for their forward planning.Stars have endured an injury-hit campaign which has forced Lyon to patch up the team on numerous occasions, and the decisions of two of the top riders not to see out the UK campaign was a crippling blow.But in contrast to being adrift at the foot of the league table, Stars pulled off several credible results, and although it wasn’t enough to challenge for a top-four finish, it did provide plenty of hope for the future.A packed run-in at the Adrian Flux Arena saw Lynn record successive home wins over Oxford, Belle Vue, Sheffield and Leicester, and supporters were delighted with the commitment of their riders.Club legend Niels-Kristian Iversen rolled back the years with a string of big scores, Czech charger Jan Kvech became a huge favourite after joining in mid-season, and there was massive progress from Rising Star Anders Rowe.Lyon said: “It’s good to end the season in this fashion and it does provide an incentive for the future.“We completed our home matches with some great wins, but the hard work starts again, and to be honest it’s already started. “We’ve been looking at what the options are for ’25, and we’ll see how that goes, although I can’t say too much at the moment. “But we’ve spoken to quite a few of the boys and now we need to tie it all together and get the best possible team.“The loyal fans deserve a winning team and I think we all want to see King’s Lynn try and win something again because it’s been a while now.“This year I think the team we had at the start would have been in the play-offs without a doubt, and if we can put together a good outfit next year and hopefully steer clear of the dreaded injury bug, then who knows?” Lyon admitted the recent burst of form did come as something of a surprise to him, as several teams with genuine title aspirations found the Adrian Flux Arena a step too far.He added: “It’s incredible really, I’m struggling to put it into words and it’s a little baffling if I’m honest. “You look down the teams who we’ve been facing and with all due respect to what we’ve put out, certainly Sheffield, Belle Vue and Leicester would have expected to come here and win meetings with the teams they have.“So it’s a strange one really, but fair play to our boys and our guests, they have given it 100 per cent all the way through.”
