Chorley 4 King’s Lynn Town 0
Emmanuel Maja and Luke Chadwick were both sent off as King’s Lynn Town’s unbeaten start to the season came crashing to an end at Chorley this afternoon.
Maja was shown a straight red for a late lunge on Adam Henley just two minutes into the game and goalkeeper Luke Chadwick followed him for an early bath after tangling with Tom Carr six minutes into the second half.
The unbeaten Magpies took full advantage of the extra two-man advantage to claim the three points at Victory Park.
Lynn’s task was always going to be difficult against a Chorley side averaging three goals a game this season, and the dismissal of both Maja and Chadwick proved extremely costly as James Rowe’s side failed to score for the first time this season.
The opening goal came in the 11th minute as Adam Blakeman fizzed a ball into the box, Mark Ellis peeled away to the back post and headed across the face of the goal before Mike Calveley smashed it home.
Despite being a man down, the Linnets gave a good account of themselves in Lancashire in the first half without seriously testing Chorley goalkeeper Matt Urwin.
But any hopes they had of getting themselves back into the game were dashed six minutes after the restart, following a coming together just outside the box between Chadwick and Chorley’s Carr, which left Lynn down to nine men.
Substitute goalkeeper Paul Jones was introduced into the action at the expense of Michael Gyasi and it was his error that led to Chorley’s second goal after 58 minutes, with Craig Hewitt the benefactor.
Head coach James Rowe was also booked, along with five other Linnets players, during a miserable afternoon on their travels.
Chorley added a third goal four minutes from time when Luke Summerfield and Henley combined for Harry Ibbitson to nod in his first goal for the club.
A fourth followed when Mark Ellis headed home deep in stoppage time.
