The first Wednesday of the month marked the return of the Eastern Masters League (EMAC) with the opening event held at Alive Lynnsport.The league is dedicated to athletes aged 35 and over and West Norfolk AC had 14 members competing in a variety of track and field events, bribed by cake, which has become a vital requirement after competing.The women’s team came fifth on the night.New member Niamh Allitt (W35-49) threw 8m 84cm in the shot to come first with a new club record, She also picked up a hammer for the first time and threw 14m 38cm.Jen Gosnell (W35-49), back from long-term injury, was determined to compete and jumped an impressive 3m 15cm in the long jump for second.Nicola Neil (W50-59), winner of the West Norfolk AC EMAC female of the year 2024, continued her excellent form with 74.6sec in the 400m, for second, threw 13.73m in the hammer, for third and 6.43m in the shot for second.Katrina Wasteney (W50-59) was happy to run in a lower age category for the 400m and showed her class in 85.5sec for second. Back in the correct age group for the 100m, she finished in 18.9sec to finish third and, in the 1500m, she finished in 6.11sec for third. The men finished fourth in what was a very close battle between second and fifth spots, with just three points separating four clubs.Tom Collison (M35-49) has trained hard throughout the winter and was rewarded with a PB in the hammer with 20.1m, for fifth.He was a non-scorer in the shot with 6.48m throw. Team manager Adam Howard (M35-49) filled in the gaps with a PB in the 400m for fifth in 66.1sec, and fourth in the long jump with 3.83m.New member Greg Davis (M35-49) delivered a great performance in the 1500m with a time of 5min 50.7sec for fifth. Rob Gosnell (M35-49), fresh from the London Marathon, was fifth in the 1500m in 6min 09.6sec.Al Williams (M35-49) was third in the shot with 7.84m and will now move up to the M50 age group in the next round. EMAC debutant Darren Easter (M50-59) was an EMAC debutant, was fifth in the 1500m with PB of 5min 12sec.Lee Tunmore (M50-59), fresh from winning the EMAC male 2024, was fourth in the 100m in 15sec, fourth in the shot with 7.89m and third in the long jump with 3.51m.Ricky Bailey (M50-59) had a solid night and was fifth in the 400m in 80.4, fourth in the hammer with 15.31m, and second in the high jump with 1.1m.Debutant Jamie Bransgrove (M50-59) was busy with a PB in the 100m with 16.2sec, for fifth, first in the 110m hurdles (no time) and second in the high jump with 1.25m. Ian Reeve (M60+) showed his class against many younger athletes with third in the 100m in 15.5sec, first in the long jump with 3.82m and first in the high jump with 1.05m.The men took part in the M50-59 4x2x2x4 relay, finishing fourth, with 3.47.2min.
