King’s Lynn Town have begun the search for a new manager following the sudden departure of head coach James Rowe this week.

Several familiar figures are already being linked to the vacancy at The Docherty Walks Stadium as the club looks to move on quickly from Rowe’s exit on Wednesday.

Among the early frontrunners is former York City and Worthing boss Adam Hinshlewood and former Havant and Waterlooville and Hednesford chief Steve King.

Hinshlewood is admired for his progressive style of play and ability to develop young players, qualities that could fit well with the Linnets’ long-term vision.

Another experienced option is Phil Brown, the former Hull City and Southend United boss.

Brown’s CV includes a spell in the Premier League, but it is highly unlikely he will jump ship from National League North Peterborough Sports, having just taken on a new job a fortnight ago.

Spalding chief Jimmy Dean, who previously managed Peterborough Sports and Scunthorpe United, has been tipped as a strong contender.

Former fans’ favourite Michael Gash would also be a popular choice with The Walks’ faithful, but the former frontman isn’t keen on taking a full-time job.

Corby Town boss Gary Setchell remains a sentimental favourite after an earlier stint with his hometown club, where he guided King’s Lynn through a successful period in the early 2010s.

And then there is Ian Culverhouse, whose name always sparks debate among Linnets fans.

Twice in charge at The Walks, Culverhouse presided over one of the club’s most exciting modern eras, taking Lynn to promotion and into the National League for the first time in the club’s history.

Some would see a third spell under his guidance as a gamble, but his past success and popularity mean he can never be discounted.

The speculation is likely to continue as the Linnets look to negotiate a tricky Third Round Qualifying FA Cup tie at Royston Town on Saturday..
