Pelicans travelled to Hitchin in a re-arranged league game which should have been played at the beginning of January but was postponed due to a frozen pitch. In the reverse fixture on the first weekend of the season, Pelicans ran out 2-0 winners to kickstart their Premier League campaign but as has been the case in recent weeks they came out second best on the scoresheet. They found themselves 3-0 down at half-time and second to most things. However, it could have easily been a different story as Pelicans had at least three golden chances to open the scoring through Toby Phillips, Sefton Maud and Ian Simons. The second half was a vast improvement from the visitors but they couldn’t prevent a fourth goal going in at the start of the half which completely extinguished any chance of a stunning comeback. However, again to give themselves some credit, the visitors did keep coming and knocking at the Blueherts’ door and in the dying embers of the game they did pull a goal back that their second-half efforts deserved. But it was no more than a consolation as Pelicans travelled back to Norfolk with no points. They have a huge game on Saturday as they travel to Broxbourne looking to complete the double over them but also to move them away from a potential relegation scrap as the season enters its final few games.Pelicans MoM, sponsored by 4Way: Ian Simons.
