King’s Lynn Town have bid farewell to Kyle Callan McFadden on the morning of their final friendly.

McFadden has left for an undisclosed fee as the Linnets prepare to host Spalding United at the Docherty Walks Stadium this afternoon.

The 30-year-old is rumoured to be joining Leiston.

The Irish-born defender’s statement read: “Linnets, first of all, thank you for welcoming me to this wonderful club four years ago.

“This decision to leave wasn’t easy, but the time has come for me to move on to new opportunities both on and off the pitch, which means setting up for the future along with my young family.

“It’s never easy leaving when a place has come to feel like home.

“I’ll look back on my time here with great pride, going to battle every week for the badge. Going so close to the drop to a play-off finish last season.

“I truly hope this is the season you fans have all been waiting for and it’s one I’ll be keeping a close eye on!

“I wish the manager, staff, players and everyone behind the scenes nothing but the best for the future!

“UTL, All the best, Mecca.”

The former Norwich City Youth player became a firm fans’ favourite during his time at the club, making 158 appearances and scoring three goals, after arriving at the club from Sligo.

He was a colossus last season as Lynn made the play-offs.

Three new signings are set to make their home bow against the Tulips this afternoon.

Tom Dickens, Morgan Williams and Rhys Doherty are all set to feature as the James Rowe revolution continues to take shape.

Williams and Doherty have arrived in the last 24 hours, taking Lynn’s summer signings to a staggering 16 players.

The club have announced the signing of central defender/midfielder Rhys Doherty, 19, who joined Blackburn Rovers’ Academy in 2017 at the age of 12.

He progressed through the ranks at Ewood Park and signed his first professional contract in June 2024.

He was one of 20 players who were not retained by Rovers in May.

Lynn have also swooped for midfielder Morgan Williams, 20, who AFC Wimbledon released at the end of June.

Having joined the Dons’ Academy at the age of seven, he had loan spells with Corinthian Casuals and Eastbourne Borough before making his English Football League debut in May 2023.

A former Welsh youth international, the highly rated Williams joined Woking on loan in October 2023, returning to the Dons after making seven league appearances.

Going in the opposite direction is Adam Crowther, who has joined Kettering Town on loan.

Ticket prices for today’s final friendly against the Tulips are £12 adults, £10 concessions and £6 children (16 and under).
