A player from West Norfolk Lawn Tennis Club embarked on a 100-mile bike ride to raise money for much-needed improvements at their North Runcton home.Matt Williamson pedalled his way from the club’s base to the home of tennis at Wimbledon – approximately 120 miles – in just a day.Williamson has already raised more than half of his £10,000 target as the club looks to install two new artificial grass courts as well as replacing the 50-year-old clubhouse.A club spokesman explained: “The two hard courts are in desperate need of resurfacing as they are worn out and at risk of becoming dangerous and unplayable.”The surface is breaking up causing very unpredictable bounces and the risk of players falling. “New artificial grass courts will provide a great surface for new and existing players, young and old, to enjoy playing on for many years.”The club has already raised the majority of the money needed through grant funding from West Norfolk Council and North Runcton Parish Council, as well as taking on several fundraising events. This crowdfunding activity is the club’s final drive to generate the money needed to undertake the project. Sport England is providing some match funding so that every £10 given is worth a lot more to the club.To donate, please visit the CrowdFunding page at
