West Norfolk Athletic Club members put in some strong displays at the Keith Ward Memorial and Norfolk Indoor track and field Championships.This year saw the addition of an outdoor hammer event and a special memorial 3000m race.A total of 152 individual athletes entered, 27 of which from West Norfolk AC entered across all the age groups from Under 11 through to seniors and veterans in the Barn at Alive Lynnsport with some amazing performances throughout the day.Under-13 girl Sofia Gilboy won a silver medal in the shot with a 6.97m put and a new personal best performance, finished sixth in the 60m 10.58sec and eighth in the long jump with a 2.61m leap.Under-15 athlete Myley Gilboy was third in her heat in the 60m in 8.97sec, equalling her personal best run, and finished fifth in the shot put with a 4.97m put.Under-17 Rebecca Johnson won gold in the 60m hurdles in 8.96sec, was third in her heat in the 60m flat in 8.09sec and won bronze in the final with an improved 8.08sec – a new personal best performance.In the same age group, Anya Faithorn had a hat-trick of personal best performances. Faithorn finished fourth in heat 2 of the 60m in a time of 8.63sec, just missing out on a place in the final. In the high jump she won silver with a 1.25m clearance and won bronze in the shot put with a 7.25m put.Senior Lucy Edwards won silver in the 60m with an 8.91sec run, while senior F20 athlete Lily Edwards won gold in the shot by equalling her indoor personal best performance with a 4.13m put.Senior Emma Dewdney won bronze in the 60m final with a 9.45sec run and Sally Gilding won gold in the shot with a 7.75m put. Under-11 Jacob Green was fifth in 11.13sec and fourth in the long jump with a 2.14m jump, while Duncan Roney was sixth in 11.15sec and third in the long jump with a 2.23m leap.Under-13 boy Matas Petreikis won three gold medals. His first came in the 60m hurdles final in 10.98sec before clearing 1.30m to win the high jump and leaping 4.41 to take the honours in the long jump.Under-15 Aidan Howard won silver in the high jump with a 1.35m personal best clearance, and under-17 Thomas Green finished sixth in heat 1 of the 60m in 7.92sec. Under-17 Charlie Broad won gold in the shot put with a 15.61m put and was second in heat 1 of the 60min 7.56sec and fifth in the final but won bronze in the County event.Under-20 Alfie Bone won gold in the high jump with a 1.75m clearance and a fabulous new PB, while Thomas O’Neill finished fourth in the 60m final in 7.96sec a new PB.Senior T20 athlete Cameron Ross won gold in the 60m final in 8.65sec. In the long jump won the F20 category gold with a 4.28m leap.Senior Charlie Williams won silver in the County shot put and bronze in the Keith Ward open with an 11.02m put.
