West Norfolk Super One karting champion Jenson Sayell added the London Cup to his growing trophy collection at the weekend.
The Marshland St James driver and his team joined the Ambition Motorsport team at Rye House Raceway, where he last won the London Cup as a Bambino racer.
The circuit, with its eight challenging corners, is one of the oldest in the country, and boasts drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Sayell’s namesake Jenson Button as former racers.
Friday practice saw both wet and dry conditions over the day.
Sayell took just one session to get used to the layout and in each subsequent session improved his times.
Despite taking the fastest lap several times, Sayell eventually qualified second just 0.09 behind Alfie Mair who beat Sayell’s time on his final run.
Sayell fought off the attentions of Jenson Walker and Alfie Mair to win Heat One and repeated in feat in Heat Two – only to docked five places for perceived contact with Charlie Page.
But the youngster put that controversy behind him to claim victory by more than a second in the Championship final.
“Jenson’s kart control is amazing,” said dad Rob after his son’s latest success.
“Constantly changing conditions kept us guessing with set up but Jenson coped so well and was in complete control. Jenson and Alfie Mair were in a class of their own.”

The youngster’s s next outing is expected to be his last in the Micromax class taking part in Round 10 of the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship at Kimbolton before starting testing in the Inter-Max class.
The team is still exploring team options for next year with several teams interested in Sayell, who would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in supporting the youngster’s racing journey.
