Under-17 rink hockey players from Lynn travelled to Colchester for what looked a tough day on paper in their first tournament of 2025.The opening game saw the team face a very strong Peterborough side that proved to have a very successful day. Some really good defensive performances, especially from Harrison in goal, saw Lynn withstand a lot of pressure before Peterborough scored two goals in three minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the interval.Peterborough remained on top and added three more goals in the second half. The team suffered an injury blow before their second game against Letchworth after one of the players fell in the changing rooms and suffered a fractured tibia.Three goals in four minutes put Letchworth firmly in control although a change of tactics kept them at bay for the remainder of the half.Lynn were caught napping as they conceded a fourth early in the second half before they began to show their potential with goals from George Causton and Grace Davey (2). A bizarre blue card for Letchworth left them down to just three players. But the Hertfordshire outfit eventually regrouped to punish Lynn with three goals in quick succession in the final minutes of the match to complete a 7-3 win.Lynn went into the final game against bottom-of-the-table Colchester knowing it was their best chance of grabbing some points – and so it proved.Davey opened the scoring in the opening 15 seconds and that’s the way it stayed until the half-time break. The floodgates opened in the second half as the Lynn team ran riot with some excellent play.Goals arrived from Davey, Georgie Oselton, Sol Graham, Causton (2) before a late brace from Nancy Rutty wrapped up a convincing 8-0 success. A good win with the points picked up and a clean sheet. The team thanks its sponsors Signworx for their continued support.
