King’s Lynn Walking Football Club showed how far they’ve come with an impressive performance in the Over-70s age group at the annual charity tournament hosted by Norwich Soca Seniors.
The Lynn squad participated in the round-robin group stage, starting with a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Bushy Boys.
They bounced back strongly, edging out Erpingham 1-0, before putting in a commanding display to beat Norwich Soca Seniors Blacks 3-0.
A hard-fought final match saw them narrowly lose 1-0 to group winners Harlow Pirates.
The team ultimately finished third in the group, just one point shy of a semi-final place.
Despite missing out on the knockout stages, the day marked significant progress for the team, who finished bottom of their group in the same event last year with just one point.
This time around, they ended with six points and plenty of pride.
Hotshot Chris Hoddy led the line with three goals, while Pete Crome added another to the tally.
The squad also benefited from a strong team effort, with substitutes making important contributions throughout the day.
The tournament also highlighted the growing popularity of Walking Football.
